Child hair loss

Here are the most common child hair loss causes - treatment is available for most of these conditions - please see our sponsored links for effective hair loss treatments.

· Alopecia areata: this is the most common hair loss problem and it also affects children. When alopecia is the main cause of child hair loss you can see improvements, even without treatment, within a few months from the appearance of the bald spots.

· Scarring alopecia : caused by physical damage to the scalp. Topical child hair loss can be noticed in places where there are scars on the scalp.

· Tinea capitis: - a fungal scalp skin infection, quite common in child hair loss

· Trichotillomania : - in this condition the child pulls the hair out through physical force - it is mostly a stress induced response.

· Telogen effluvium : this refers to a process in which the baby hair is replaced by stronger hairs. It is not something to worry about and the normal hair growth resumes in a few months. · Traction alopecia : caused by tight hairstyles, not a very common child hair loss condition.

· Congenital alopecia : - manifests itself through small hairless patches with newborns
