Birth control pills and hair loss
A small percentage of women are affected by different hair loss causes like alopecia. Birth control pills and hair loss are often feared to be closely related, but studies show that in fact, the estrogen found in the pills stimulates hair growth. This means that more hair is lost daily because more is produced, due to the hormonal changes. Birth control pills and hair loss are not an issue to worry about, as the pills do not have an effect direct on your already existing hair loss condition. Most women observe hair loss problems in the first one or two months after starting to take the pills, after which the condition returns to normal. Of course, it is always a good idea to also ask your gynecologist about the relationship between birth control pills and hair loss.
